CHRIS HOUGH

General Manager

Chris left home early on and went to sea for a life of adventure. After a successful career as a skipper, engineer and mate he return home to Hervey Bay to start a new company and life ashore: settling on building vessels Chris and Eva purchased their CNC cutting machine and opened a factory.

Chris soon realised though that building just any vessels was not going to be enough and he started to research different types of commercial vessels, while constructing many types of Commercial Aluminium Vessels in their factory.

Now Chris is offering Vessel Management and Marine Surveying services, making BtB Marine the specialised builder for any new or existing project.

Born and raised in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Eva started her career as brand & packaging designer, soon developing concepts for big global brands. After some time traveling outside Europe and across to Australia, she fell in love with the sea and soon went to study at the Maritime College in IJmuiden, the Netherlands where she graduated as Maritime Officer.

After she went and worked as Chief Mate on coastal freighters that took her as far north as the polar circle, east past Istanbul into the Black Sea and also North Africa, still combining this work with her graphic design & concept development.

Today, together with Chris, she working on new vessel development and marketing, next to her roll as Director of the Company.

BtB Marine has been developing specialised vessels in close collaboration with Naval Architect Peter Holmes [BEng(Hons) CEng MRINA RPEQ] from Direct Marine Solutions, With Peter’s expert assistance, BtB marine has been developing a range of cost effective aluminium work boats that are able to fulfil clients exacting requirements, while still passing all of the relevant survey requirements Chris soon realised that there was a demand for smaller specialised aluminium workboats and that many available designs would not be able to pass customers requirements in survey.

As each operation is different and requires a customised vessel, BtB Marine offers easy choices for any operator. As an experienced master and mate, respectively Chris & Eva have a real understanding of what the marine  operators require, and are able to deliver vessels that are specific to the task, While still being cost efficient to build and run operations are about and can so come to a great operational vessel for the customer. BtB Marine's vessels are cost efficient to build and run.

BtB Marine is also an authorised dealer of  Diesel Outboards and promotes these great cost efficient, reliable engines. As BtB Marine strives towards a sustainable vessel industry, these engines are not only powerful and efficient, they also reduce the CO2 emissions of the traditional outboard engines.
